When In Doubt... THE DAVE MATTHEWS BAND "CRUSH"

"Crazy how it feels tonight
Crazy how you make it all alright love
You crush me with the things you do
I do for you anything too
Sitting smoking feeling high
In this moment it feels so right
Lovely lady
I am at your feet
God I want you so badly
I wonder this
Could tomorrow be
So wondrous as you there sleeping
Let's go drive 'till morning comes
Watch the sunrise to fill our souls up
Drink some wine 'till we get drunk
It's crazy I'm thinking
Just knowing that the world is round
Here I'm dancing on the ground
Am I right side up or upside down
Is this real or am I dreaming
Lovely lady
Let me drink you please
I won't spill a drop I promise you
Lying under this spell you cast on me
Each moment
The more I love you
Crush me
Come on
It's crazy I'm thinking
Just knowing that the world is round
Here I'm dancing on the ground
Am I right side up or upside down
Is it real or am I dreaming
Lovely lady
I will treat you sweetly
Adore you I mean you crush me
It's times like these
When my faith I feel
And I know how I love you
Come on
Lady
It's crazy I'm thinking
Just as long as you're around
And here I'll be dancing on the ground
Am I right side up or upside down
To each other we'll be facing
By love we'll beat back the pain we've found
You know
I mean to tell you all the things I've been thinking deep inside
My friend
With each moment the more I love you
Crush me
Come on
So much you have given love
That I would give you back again and again
Meaning I'll hold you
And please let me always"

CONFESSION:  This was NOT my original post idea.  I've been working on about three other pieces when this song came on and kinda' took over my brain.  This was very random and spontaneous so I apologize in advance if it's a little "all over the place" and lacking in my normal smartass snarkiness.  But then again, I'm sure it'll still be pretty friggin' awesome so never mind.  F*ck that apology.  I rule.  Anyhoo...

I'm not sure if I've played any other song or video as much as I've played this combo.  There's just something about it that's..."perfect."  This is a song you play when you want to get that person you love or "love" (even if it's not...ummm..."long-term") to swoon your way.  Every time I hear it, it always brings BACK great memories and a smile to my face.  The kind of memories that make you feel funny in a good way...even if you may not necessarily be able to share those memories with mixed company. ;-)

SONG:  Just take a moment and read over the lyrics, and if that isn't enough to convince you then someone must've surgically removed any remaining pieces of "ROMANTIC" left in your cold, dark soul.

Sorry...that MAY have been a bit much.  My bad.  Movin' on...

BUT C'MON!!!!  This is how guys used to be:  RENAISSANCE MEN!  There was a time when wearing your heart on your sleeve was cool, sexy and passionate.  Guys weren't ashamed to say how they felt...to write something for the woman they had the hots for...to be educated, sharp and witty...and yet no one would ever think twice about them being "real men."  That's what I think about when I hear this song:  this guy is in love and it helps define his world.  He's not ashamed of it...he's not worried about "looking soft" or "what his boys will think." Why?  Because as far as he's concerned, everyone else is second place to...her.  The woman who makes him want to dance...to drink...to fight...to love.  The woman who can turn his world upside down yet make him feel safe and loved.  The woman he took the time to write this song about AND play it in front of anyone who'll listen.

Admit it...that's pretty damn smooth.

VIDEO:  All that stuff I just wrote about the song?  That's the video...or to be more precise, the video is exactly how I imagined it would be even before I saw it for the first time.  As the song builds in intensity to the point when he looks like he's ready to explode, he storms the stage and lets himself go.  As amazing as the song is, I have to say that the video does a sweet job of visualizing the emotional impact of the words.

NEXT WEEK:  How Lil' Jon and the Eastside Boyz (w/ The Ying Yang Twins) "Get Low" could bring about world peace (click link if you're new to this classic).  There will be a quiz...

AUSGEZEICHNIT! ;-)
